to work at the organisation’s head office in LYONS on a permanent contract
Ms. Hoang Yen (M.A. in Human Development) spent her Christmas with children who had HIV. Unable to find a job due to her disability, she understands how hard it is for people with disabilities and took on the responsibility of helping people who were like her.Two Web Design Approach and Access classes organized by DRD began on February 23 2009 and ended on March 5 2009. There were 28 students in total, and they were divided into 2 classes: the morning class had 17 students, and the evening class had 11 students including both students and workers with physical disabilities (7), people with hearing disabilities (8), people who are visually disabled, volunteers (8) and teachers at schools for children with hearing disabilities.
Concerned about the limitations in education opportunities that people with disabilities are facing, Disability Resources and Development created a scholarship program in order to create further education opportunities for students with disabilities. After the funding campaign process, on April 17, 2008, at the Youth Newspaper’s Main Office, DRD official announced the beginning of the program.
On October 10, 2008, Disability Resource and Development held a meeting with VSO, an international volunteer organization and a number of representatives of people with disabilities in Ho Chi Minh City in order to understand and share with people with disabilities the difficulties they face in searching for jobs.
Disability Resource and Development, a program of the Social Studies Department of the Open University of Ho Chi Minh City was found on March 12, 2005, funded by the Ford Foundation. Its mission is to increase social participation and equality for people with disabilities.
