Jetstar Pacific accept passengers with hearing impairment

On August 28 2009, the low-cost airline Jetstar Pacific (JP) announced plans to serve passengers with hearing impairment.

According to the representative of JP, all of their passengers with hearing impairment will have priority for the front seats. However, JP also noted that passengers with hearing impairment should inform JP’s staff about their impairment and request assistance when buying tickets to have a good service.

Free vocational training for people with disability and orphan children

On August 29 2009, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vocational Training Center for disabled people and orphans was officially opened. The Vocational Center will provide people with disabilities with formal education, vocational training and employment skills. This will help PWDs to become more confident and lead to active integration into the social community.

RECOMMENDATIONS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT ON ENTERPRISES’ RESPONSIBILITIES FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

On August 26 2009, the delegates of the Disability Law Project held a meeting in Ho Chi Minh City. Recommendations were made that the State should issue certification for people with disabilities. This is considered to be one of the conditions for the enforcement of regulations and policies that support PWDs to integrate in to society.

Course on “Building and Developing Websites” using “Joomla”computer program

To meet the needs of people with disabilities in accessing training opportunities, increasing knowledge, and having an IT tool to support their work, Disability Resource and Development (DRD) organized a course "Building and Developing Websites using the tool from Joomla. The course lasted from July 6, 2009 to July 8, 2009. Trainees were six deaf students of HCMC Deaf Club, two students with physical disabilities of HCMC Disabled Youth Union and volunteer from the Sunflower Group.

Seattle-based nonprofit aspires to assist deaf children in Vietnam

It was an unassuming trip.

Paige Stringer traveled to Vietnam for her work and discovered a cause so personal that she established a foundation to help raise funds for deaf children in Vietnam. Last year, Stringer, a freelance travel writer, was working on an article about customized vacations when she traveled to Vietnam and volunteered at a school for deaf children.
