On May 19, 2010, the last day of the 66th Commission session, ESCAP adopted the resolution, sponsored by 11 countries in the Asia Pacific Region that the High Level intergovernmental Meeting on the final review of Asian and Pacific Decade of Disabled Persons 2003-2012 will be held in the Republic of Korea in 2012. HLM will evaluate what the AP Region has achieved and what gaps are remained during the 2nd decade, which is expected to contain ways forward post 2012, in ensuring that persons with disabilities exercise and enjoy their rights in all aspects of their lives. RI World Congress and APDF General Assembly will be held in conjunction with the ESCAP HLM.
The Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) declares commencement of receiving nominations for AGFUND International Prize for Innovative Human Development Projects. AGFUND invites UN, international and regional organizations, ministries, public institutions, national non-governmental organizations (NGOs), universities and research centers all over the world to submit their nominations for the Prize which value is 500 thousand US Dollars in its four categories. The Prize subject for the year focuses on " Development of remote and rural communities through information technology and communication ".

A new initiative enables users to find deaf organizations and schools in 149 countries around the world. Launched by the Gallaudet University Center for International Programs and Services (CIPS) in October 2009, the World Deaf Information Resource Project provides contact information for hundreds of international-, national-, and local-level organizations and schools globally. The website also links to on-line reports about the human rights conditions and living situation of deaf people around the world and other information resources for deaf individuals and organizations.
